Where the route stands
Almería (LEI) is a small airport serving the eastern end of Andalusia. Its network is seasonal and concentrated on a handful of European markets, and Belfast is not currently among them.
This page is kept because the route has been served in the past and because the destination is worth knowing about.
Getting there anyway
The practical option is Málaga, which is served direct from Belfast in three hours ten, followed by a drive east along the coast road. Allow about two hours to Roquetas de Mar and a little over two to the edge of the Cabo de Gata natural park.
That is a long day, and it only makes sense if the destination is the point rather than the beach generally.
What is out there
The Costa de Almería is the driest and quietest corner of mainland Spain, and the Cabo de Gata-Níjar park is the most striking undeveloped coastline left on the Spanish Mediterranean: volcanic rock, empty sand, and coves reached down dirt tracks.
The full write-up is on the Costa de Almería page.
