Privacy policy
Short version: analytics only if you say yes, nothing sold, nothing profiled.
Who is responsible
The data controller for this website is Oliver Jones, 22 The Paddock, Ballymena BT42 1RN, United Kingdom. Contact: hello@belfastflights.co.uk.
This site is aimed at readers in the United Kingdom, so we apply UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). Where EU GDPR also applies to you, the rights described below are equivalent.
What we collect, and why
| Data | Why | Legal basis | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics events (pages viewed, device type, country-level location, referring site) | To see which pages are useful and which are not | Your consent | 14 months |
| Your cookie choice | So we stop asking | Strictly necessary | Stored in your browser only |
| Email correspondence | To reply to you | Legitimate interest | 24 months, then deleted |
| Server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) | Security, abuse prevention, keeping the site up | Legitimate interest | Per our host’s retention, typically days |
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal data. There is no arrangement under which anyone pays us for it.
- We do not build advertising profiles and we do not run retargeting pixels.
- We do not ask for your name, address, date of birth or payment details, because we have nothing to sell you.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children. The site is written for adults booking travel.
Analytics in detail
If you accept cookies, the site loads Google Analytics 4. Until you do,
no analytics script is loaded at all — not in a limited form, not
anonymously, not at all. This is implemented with Google Consent Mode v2
with every storage type defaulting to denied.
IP anonymisation is enabled. Analytics data may be processed outside the UK by Google, under the transfer mechanisms in their own terms. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which brings the banner back.
Affiliate links
This site currently carries no commercial links. If that changes, some links to travel operators will be commercial. Following one takes you to a third party who will set their own cookies under their own policy, and may record that you arrived from here so that any resulting booking can be attributed. We receive aggregate reporting from that process — numbers of clicks and bookings — not your identity, and never your booking details, passenger names or payment information.
Who processes data on our behalf
- Our hosting provider, which serves the pages and keeps short-lived server logs.
- Google (Analytics and Fonts), if and only if you have accepted cookies for analytics. Fonts are served from Google’s CDN on every visit.
- Our email provider, if you write to us.
- An affiliate network, for click and booking attribution, once commercial links are live.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what happened before.
Write to hello@belfastflights.co.uk. We will respond within one month. In practice, because we hold almost nothing that identifies you, most requests are answered by explaining exactly that.
If you are unhappy with how we handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects consent, ask you again.
