Every destination you can fly to from Belfast

21 destinations served direct, from a 2h 45m hop to a near five-hour run out into the Atlantic.

Canaries

  • 4h 45m The seafront promenade at Costa Adeje, Tenerife, with sun loungers and the Atlantic behind

    Tenerife

The only place in Europe you can fly to from Belfast and reliably swim outdoors in February. That single fact explains almost everything about how Tenerife is sold and priced.

    DirectTFS
  • 4h 30m Whitewashed buildings against black volcanic ground on Lanzarote, with the Atlantic beyond

    Lanzarote

Four and a half hours from Belfast to an island that looks like nowhere else in Europe, with the shortest airport transfers in the Canaries and sun in every month of the year.

    DirectACE
  • 4h 40m The Maspalomas sand dunes meeting the Atlantic in southern Gran Canaria

    Gran Canaria

A continent in miniature, as the tourist board never stops saying. Annoyingly, it is true: desert dunes in the south, a proper Spanish city in the north, and pine forest at fifteen hundred metres in between.

    DirectLPA
  • 4h 30m – 4h 50m Volcanic coastline in the Canary Islands with the Atlantic breaking against black rock

    Canary Islands

Four islands, one weather system, four completely different holidays. This is the comparison that should exist before you pick one.

    Direct

Balearics

  • 2h 50m A cove beach on the coast of Majorca with pine trees and clear shallow water

    Majorca

Under three hours from Belfast and the shortest transfer list in the Mediterranean. Majorca's problem is not getting there — it is that four completely different holidays are sold under one island's name.

    DirectPMI
  • 2h 55m A pine-fringed cove on the west coast of Ibiza at sunset

    Ibiza

The reputation covers roughly two square miles. The rest is pine forest, hidden coves and a walled Renaissance old town that is a UNESCO site.

    DirectIBZ
  • 2h 55m A turquoise cove backed by pine woods on the south coast of Menorca

    Menorca

The Balearic that never built the high-rises. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with a coastal footpath around the whole island and coves you have to walk to.

    DirectMAH
  • 2h 50m – 3h Clear turquoise water over pale sand in a Balearic cove

    Balearic Islands

Three islands, one hour of flying time apart from each other, and genuinely different holidays. Most people pick on reputation, which is how they end up in the wrong one.

    Direct

Mainland Spain

  • 3h 10m The seafront at Málaga with the harbour promenade and palm trees

    Málaga

Three hours from Belfast, and the only Spanish beach coast where you can walk off the plane, get a train, and be on a promenade in twenty minutes without booking anything.

    DirectAGP
  • 3h 5m The Explanada promenade in Alicante with palm trees and the castle on the hill above

    Alicante

Three hours from Belfast to a city most people walk straight past on their way to Benidorm. Both the city and the coast are better than their reputations.

    DirectALC
  • 3h 10m A palm-lined promenade on the Costa del Sol with the Mediterranean beyond

    Costa del Sol

Fifty years of reputation attached to about six miles of coastline. The rest is working Spanish towns with long promenades, and a train line running through most of them.

    Direct
  • 3h 5m The Peñón de Ifach rock rising above the bay at Calpe on the Costa Blanca

    Costa Blanca

Two hundred kilometres of coast where the character changes completely every twenty minutes. Benidorm at one end, limestone headlands and hidden coves at the other.

    Direct
  • 3h 15m An empty cove with volcanic rock and clear water in the Cabo de Gata park, Almería

    Costa de Almería

The driest place in Europe, and the quietest of the southern Spanish coasts. Where the Costa del Sol built, Almería mostly did not.

    Direct
  • 2h 50m A wide shallow sandy beach on the Costa Dorada with a promenade behind it

    Costa Dorada

Long, flat, shallow golden beaches an hour south of Barcelona, and the theme park that drives most of the family bookings on this stretch.

    Direct
  • 2h 45m Rooftops of Barcelona's Eixample district with the Sagrada Família in the distance

    Barcelona

The shortest flight on the Belfast route map, to a city that works in February as well as August, and doubles as the gateway to two very different coasts.

    DirectBCN
  • 2h 45m – 4h 50m A Spanish coastline with a whitewashed town above a blue bay

    Spain

Spain is not one destination from Belfast. It is four coasts and four islands with different seasons, different prices and very different reasons to go.

    Direct
  • 2h 50m to Barcelona A rocky pine-covered headland and a small bay on the Costa Brava

    Costa Brava

Not served direct from Belfast at the moment. It is still reachable, and this page exists so you can decide whether the extra leg is worth it.

    Legacy route
  • 3h 15m The Alcazaba fortress above the city of Almería

    Almería

A legacy route page. Almería airport is not currently served direct from Belfast, and this page explains the realistic alternatives.

    Legacy routeLEI
  • 2h 50m Coloured houses along the river Onyar in Girona, with the cathedral above

    Girona

A legacy route page from the era when Girona was the cheap way into Catalonia. The city is better than its reputation as a budget airport ever suggested.

    Legacy routeGRO
  • 2h 50m Modernista architecture on a street in the town of Reus

    Reus

A legacy route page. Reus is the natural airport for Salou and the Costa Dorada, and without a direct service that coast is reached the long way, via Barcelona.

    Legacy routeREU

Portugal

  • 2h 55m Golden sandstone cliffs above a small cove beach in the Algarve

    Algarve

Golden sandstone cliffs, coves you reach through a hole in the rock, and the longest season in western Europe. Under three hours from Belfast.

    DirectFAO

Greece

  • 4h 15m The medieval walls and Street of the Knights in Rhodes old town

    Rhodes

One of the last inhabited medieval walled cities in Europe, attached to an island with three hundred sunny days a year and a wind problem on one side.

    DirectRHO
  • 4h 25m A pink-tinged beach with turquoise shallows on the coast of Crete

    Crete

Big enough that the two ends of the island are separate destinations. Which airport you land at decides most of your holiday before you have unpacked.

    DirectHER

Turkey

  • 4h 40m A long beach backed by the Taurus mountains on the Turkish Mediterranean coast

    Antalya

Four and a half hours from Belfast to the one place in the Mediterranean where all-inclusive genuinely changes the maths rather than just the convenience.

    DirectAYT
  • 4h 30m The blue lagoon at Ölüdeniz seen from the hillside above

    Dalaman

The stretch of Turkish coast where the mountains come down to the water. Greener, more dramatic and less flat than Antalya, with longer transfers to match.

About the airport

Belfast International Airport (BFS) is the larger of Belfast’s two airports and handles nearly all of the leisure network. Its smaller sibling, George Best Belfast City, concentrates on UK domestic and short business routes, so if you are looking for a beach it is almost certainly BFS.
